OUR STORY
First-Generation Family Farm | Veteran-Owned & Operated | Established 2021
About Us
We’re Mat and Ava Jensen, the proud owners and operators of On the Edge Farm, established in 2021. Our journey started with a shared passion for the outdoors, nature, animals, and building a strong, supportive community. We dream of creating a space where families can come together to explore, learn, and connect—whether that’s discovering the wonders of nature, embracing the magic of animal companionship, or simply getting back to the basics of life.
At On the Edge Farm, we believe in the power of hands-on learning. Our goal is to teach people how to grow their own food, create with their hands, and appreciate the simple joys of life. Our animals aren’t just livestock—they’re family. Many have come to us to live out their lives surrounded by love and care.
We’ve dedicated countless hours to restoring and cleaning up our farm, transforming it into a thriving space. From hauling away dumpsters full of garbage to recycling, reusing, and refurbishing materials to build sustainable shelters for our animals, we’re committed to minimizing our impact on the land. Every day, we learn from the land, from the animals, and from nature itself—all alongside our children.
Though we didn’t grow up on a farm, we got here as fast as we could. Thank you for being a part of our journey and supporting your local farmers and artisans. Together, we’re creating something truly special.
Farm Rules for Visiting Guests
-
Respect the Animals: Our farm animals are gentle and friendly, but please remember they are still animals. Do not approach, feed, or pet them without guidance from our staff. Always ask before offering treats.
-
Stay on Designated Paths: For your safety and to protect our animals and land, please stay on the marked paths and avoid wandering into private areas or restricted zones.
-
Supervise Children: Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Ensure they follow all safety guidelines and do not run or make loud noises around the animals.
-
No Feeding the Animals: Our animals have a carefully regulated diet. Please do not feed them without permission, as certain foods may harm them.
-
Keep a Safe Distance: Always maintain a safe distance from our larger animals, like cows and llamas. They are friendly but can be unpredictable at times.
-
Respect Our Home: On the Edge Farm is our family home, and we are excited to share it with you. Please be respectful of our property, including buildings, vehicles, and equipment. Avoid touching anything that is not meant for visitors.
-
No Smoking or Open Flames: For the safety of the animals, our family, and the environment, please refrain from smoking or using open flames on the farm.
-
Clean Up After Yourself: Please dispose of trash in the provided bins and help keep the farm tidy. We appreciate your efforts in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
-
Liability: By visiting, you acknowledge the inherent risks of being around farm animals and the countryside. On the Edge Farm is not liable for accidents, injuries, or damages. Please visit at your own risk and follow the safety guidelines provided.
-
Photographs: Feel free to take photos, but please be mindful of the animals. Flash photography may startle them, so it’s best to avoid it.
-
Help Us Spread the Word: We appreciate your support and encourage you to share your visit with friends and family, but please respect the farm’s quiet hours and the privacy of our animals when doing so.
